Molybdenum market update on June 23, 2025
At the start of the week, the domestic molybdenum market generally continued the sideways trend from the previous week. Under the mutual influence of strong reluctance to sell and price support from molybdenum mining enterprises, and high price-pressing sentiment from downstream and end customers, product prices showed no obvious changes, and market transactions performed moderately. Today, the prices of molybdenum concentrate, molybdenum iron, and ammonium tetramolybdate are approximately 3,850 yuan/ton-degree, 247,000 yuan/ton, and 234,000 yuan/ton respectively. In recent days, steel enterprises that have entered the market for molybdenum iron bidding include Anhui Magang, Shanxi Taigang, WISCO Xiangyang Heavy Equipment, Shougang Jingtang, etc.
In terms of news, the Guangdong Province Action Plan for Accelerating the High-quality Development of Nuclear Medical Industry (2025-2030) shows that efforts will be made to promote the stable supply of major medical isotopes. It will accelerate the filling of shortfalls in medical isotope supply, study the construction of a research reactor with international advanced levels and supporting experimental production facilities, achieve differentiated production and stable supply of major commonly used medical isotopes such as molybdenum-99, carbon-14, strontium-89, yttrium-90, iodine-125, iodine-131, and lutetium-177, and break through R&D and production technologies for new medical isotopes.
