Molybdenum market update on April 27, 2025
The domestic molybdenum market has maintained a stable and relatively strong operating trend. With downstream demand still low in the desire of raw material manufacturers to lower prices and ship shipments, the prices of most products continue to rise slightly, among which the prices of molybdenum concentrate and ferromolybdenum rise by about 30 yuan and 3,000 yuan respectively.
In the molybdenum concentrate market, the market performance is stable, and the product price is gradually approaching the 3,400 yuan mark, which is mainly due to the high initiative in inquiry by buyers and the strong sentiment of holding goods to wait for the rise. In the iron molybdenum market, the on-site purchase and sales atmosphere is active. The current low price of iron molybdenum and the May Day holiday are coming, which are important reasons for the increase in the enthusiasm of steel companies to enter the market to bid for iron molybdenum; however, the decline in steel prices is difficult to stop, which may affect the increase in the price of iron molybdenum to a certain extent. In the market of molybdenum chemicals and their products, when the demand for end customers is difficult to increase and supplier quotations are relatively stable, the market is average and the transaction volume is limited.
Data from the China Iron and Steel Association shows that in the first quarter of 2025, China's total stainless steel imports were 450,800 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 25.86%; the total stainless steel exports were 1.226 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 15.47%; the total net exports of stainless steel were 775,200 tons, a year-on-year increase of 70.88%.
